The Greater Hartford Labor Coalition, AFL-CIO represents over 25,000 members of 70 unions throughout north central Connecticut. It aims to improve the lives of working families and bring economic and social justice to the workplace, state and nation.
We are one of nearly 500 state and local labor coalitions of the AFL-CIO and are the heart of the labor movement. We are a democratically elected body dedicated to represent the interests of working people at the state and local level. We mobilize our members and community partners to advocate for social and economic justice and we strive daily to vanquish oppression and make our communities better for all people—regardless of race, color, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, or ethnic or national origin.
The mission of the Greater Hartford Labor Coalition, AFL-CIO is to improve the lives of working families—to bring economic justice to the workplace and social justice to our state and the nation.
To accomplish this mission, we work to:
Build a broad movement of Connecticut workers by helping workers join and form unions.
Support Connecticut workers as they bargain with employers to improve their living conditions and workplaces, as well as their communities, state and nation.
Strengthen the voice of Connecticut working families at all levels of government and in a changing global economy.
The Greater Hartford Labor Coalition, AFL-CIO is a key part of the nation's largest and strongest labor federation—the AFL-CIO, which unites 10.5 million working women and men of every race and ethnicity and from every walk of life.
