Nov. 4, 2009

Arthur Guimond
Dedicated Secretary-Treasurer

There have been very few Secretary-Treasurers during the history of the Greater Hartford Central Labor Council.

Art was Secretary-Treasurer of the Greater Hartford Central Labor Council for more than 20 years. He followed Betty Kuehnel’s father-in-law who was there for about 30 years. Betty in 2009 is the current Council’s Assistant Secretary-Treasurer.

Art was a member of the West Hartford Police Department - AFSCME Council 15. After he retired from the force he joined the State of Connecticut Judicial Department working in Rockville - AFSCME Council 4.

Sol Ushery
20-year plus Delegate, Greater Hartford Central Labor Council
Advocate for Civil Rights

Sol Ushery was a true Union leader and supporter - he rarely if ever, missed a Labor Council meeting. He was employed by the City of Hartford and President of his local - AFSCME Council 4. When he retired Clarke King, 2009 Labor Council Executive Vice President, took over from Sol as the local’s president.
